Simultaneous translation in Chile

Contrary to popular belief, Chile is a bustling hub of international activity. Each year, thousands of international events take place here, including congresses, courses, conferences, and seminars.

Simultaneous translation is the profession that enables speakers of one language to have their messages translated in real time into another language. Strictly speaking, the correct term for "simultaneous translation" is "simultaneous interpretation," although the former is much more widely used than the latter. The difference between the two is straightforward: translation is written, while interpretation is oral. Therefore, strictly speaking, one should not refer to "simultaneous translation," although this term is far more widely used than the academically correct "simultaneous interpretation."
